How to use results from personality assessments
Appropriate uses of personality assessment results
Personality assessments are intended to aid (not replace) your judgment. They should be used as one component of a larger screening program.
There are at least 3 ways to use personality assessments:
- Top-down: When there are at least 2 candidates applying for a unit, you can offer the unit to the applicant with the highest scores. The more applicants that apply for a unit, the more choosy you can be, making it more likely that you will get an excellent tenant.
- Cutoff score: You might want to require that tenants meet a certain minimum score. If you would rather leave a unit empty than rent to a bad tenant, then a cutoff score may be appropriate.
- Combination: Reject candidates who fail to meet a cutoff score, then consider people who passed in a top-down manner.
